Artist Support Programme.

Free Studio Award

As part of our Studio Support Pledge and our commitment to creating inclusive and affordable art opportunities, we offer at least one resident of the Royal Borough of Greenwich a free studio for a year between March - February. At the end of the award the artist exhibits the work they have created during the last year at our community gallery in Deptford. We have partnered with The Collective Makers to select the artist each year. This opportunity is aimed at someone who comes from an underrepresented part of the community, who loves making art but may not consider having a studio. The free studio is located at our Woolwich site and includes support from The Collective Makers and the Art Hub Studio team.

We were able to start running this free studio award programme through funding from Royal Borough of Greenwich. Due to the success of the first year we have committed to always offering at least one free studio to an artist each year, but hope to offer more depending on funding.

Young Greenwich

Art Hub Studios have been delivering art workshops at The John Roan School since 2021. These workshops are part of the Young Greenwich programme commissioned by the Royal Borough of Greenwich. The key purpose of the programme is to enable young people to develop holistically, working with them to facilitate their personal, social, and educational aspirations with an aim to develop their voice and reach their full potential.

All of the art workshops we deliver in school are designed to encourage students to focus on the process of making rather than specific outcomes. The emphasis is on playful experimentation of materials and their properties, allowing development of ideas and reflection through making. The sessions are delivered by Art Hub Studio members and provide an opportunity for the young people to work with practising artists and have conversations they may not have within the school context.

Young Greenwich is led by NHS Oxleas Foundation Trust (Oxleas) and delivered with partners Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) who together with METRO form the Young Greenwich Partnership.
