Fountain Pen Drawings
X3 Drawings, Fountain Pen Ink on Paper, 297 x 420mm, 2020.
Over lockdown I discovered drawing with a fountain pen. With fineliner pens constantly seeming to run out it was nice having the consistency of a fountain pen, and the ability to chuck in a new cartridge when it does run out, rather than having to squeeze the life out of a half working fineliner.
These drawings mark the first exploration into my fountain pen love affair, and using a larger sketchbook. They’re mostly just doodles that came out of my head whilst sitting around with the TV on, but number 1 is me trying to map out the bottom floor of my (then) house - an idea I abandoned and made something up - but the drawing itself ended up being (I think) fairly successful. I’ve since moved onto a finer pen and black ink, but I appreciate these drawings for getting me out of a rut of cheap fineliners and A5 sketchbooks.
